Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.
This simple greeting—Hello, world—feels both lighthearted and profound as I open the doors to this new space. It marks a beginning. And beginnings, as I’ve come to know deeply through my work and life, often come wrapped in complexity: hope, uncertainty, longing, and sometimes even grief.
By The Way Coaching was born from the belief that life is made up of thresholds. Some are joyful—new jobs, new relationships, new dreams. Others are tender—losses, transitions, endings we didn’t choose. And still others invite us into deeper questions about who we are, what we believe, and where we’re being called next.
As a life, end-of-life, and grief coach, I walk with people through these thresholds. I hold space for the messiness of becoming, the weight of letting go, and the quiet beauty of simply being present to what is. I don’t offer quick fixes or surface solutions. I offer time, presence, thoughtful questions, and a brave space where your truth can rise to the surface.
Whether you’re navigating grief, preparing for an end-of-life journey (your own or someone else’s), or feeling stuck in the “in between” seasons of life—you’re not alone. This coaching practice exists to help you make meaning, find peace, and move forward at your own pace.
In the weeks ahead, this blog will be a place for reflections, resources, and real talk about life, death, grief, growth, and everything in between. I hope it will feel like a gentle companion on your journey.
For now, I simply want to say thank you—for stopping by, for being curious, and for honoring your own story enough to explore what support might look like.
With gratitude,
Pastor JoAnna Patterson
